MPS holds Enrollment Day ahead of Sept. 1 start of school

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools is aiming to offer families an opportunity on Thursday, Aug. 20 to enroll students before the new school year begins.

MPS Enrollment Day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wick Park next to Central Offices on Vliet St.

Families can enroll students in kindergarten through 12th grade, while activities include access to the splash pad, basketball courts, playground and games.

The district says kindergarten applications during its February-March enrollment period increased about 22% from last year, while ninth-grade applications rose about 15%.

Families who cannot attend Thursday can enroll online or at MPS Central Services before classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 1.

In case of rain, Thursday’s event will move inside Central Services at 5225 W. Vliet St.
