MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A hostage situation in Milwaukee Monday morning, March 22, ended without anyone seriously hurt.
Just before 4 a.m., police were called to 78th and Calumet, after a report of gunshots and children yelling. Authorities determined it was a domestic violence incident involving a man and woman inside a residence.
When police arrived, two children were able to escape from inside.
After several hours of negotiations, the suspect -- who police say is a 32-year-old Milwaukee man -- fired a shot. Police then entered the residence and were able to rescue a woman inside, identified as a 30-year-old Milwaukee woman.
Officers were met with gunfire but did not return fire, police say.
