MPD: Reckless driving likely cause of car crash near Hawley and Main

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating an accident that happened Thursday, Sept. 23, near the intersection of Hawley and Main.

Police say that a vehicle was traveling southbound on S. Hawley Rd. and disregarded the red light at the intersection of S. Hawley Rd. and W. Main St. resulting in a collision with another vehicle which was in the intersection.

Officials added the driver of the vehicle that ignored the traffic light, a 42-year-old Milwaukee man, had to be extricated and transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 64-year-old Milwaukee man was also transported to a local hospital.

Authorities believe the collision to be reckless driving related.

Milwaukee police say they issued citations to the driver that ignored the red light.
