MPD officers participate in fishing clinic with local children

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Members of the Milwaukee Police Department participated in the Spring Fishing Clinic for Kids on Saturday.

The event was hosted by E.B. Garner’s Fishing Club.

MPD says some of the officers taught the kids how to fish while others learned from the children.

It's great that police officers want to interact with children but they should do so in ways that promote safety and kindness not cruelty and violence. That's what fishing is: torturing and killing fish. Even many who are released end up perishing from the injury and trauma they suffer from having been caught, fought, suffocated and manhandled.

Fishing isn't sport, the fish are victims not willing participants. Science has shown that fish are sentient, they suffer fear and pain. They deserve respect and compassion not cruel exploitation. "Teach your children well," teach them kindness not cruelty!
