A Milwaukee Police Officer was injured Thursday night while directing traffic near the Summerfest grounds. The officer, a member of the Motorcycle Unit, was directing traffic at the intersection of E Harbor and N Lincoln Memorial Drives around 8:25 PM, when a motorist ignored the officer’s directions, attempted to drive around him and struck him with the vehicle. The motorist driving a small SUV fled the scene but was located a short distance away and was arrested.
The officer, a seven year veteran of the MPD, was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
The MPD is continuing to investigate the incident.
