Mount Pleasant Police: 7-year-old Struck by Vehicle in Parking Lot

RACINE COUNTY - A 7-year-old is recovering after being hit by a truck today in Mount Pleasant. The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the Dick's Sporting Goods store located on Green Bay Road after a child collided with the right front tire of the Ford Pickup truck.

According to a press release, witnesses stated the 7-year-old ran eastbound in the lot ahead of his father who was trying to get him to stop.  The 57-year-old female driver of the Ford Pickup advised that she did not see the child running out into her path as parked cars shielded her view. Witnesses stated the truck was being driven at a slow speed at the time the child was hit.

The driver of the vehicle did not show signs of being impaired and no citations were issued.

The child suffered a severe but non-life threatening injury.
