MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The IRS says they're reaching out to 111,426 people in Wisconsin with special mailing encouraging them to see if they are eligible for the Economic Impact Payment (EIP).

According to IRS Media Relations representative Christopher Miller, this is for people who typically aren't required to file a tax return, but the IRS still needs their information get them a payment.

Miller says according to a breakdown by zip code for Wisconsin, most letters, which is 2,492 letters, are going to the 53204 zip code, which is a postal code in the Milwaukee metro area. 

The IRS is mailing around nine million letters for this latest outreach to non-filers, Miller says. So far, the IRS has issued more than 160 million EIPs (or payments) this year. 

The letter urges recipients to visit the special Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info tool on IRS.gov before the Oct. 15 deadline to register for an EIP.

Below is a breakdown by zip code for Wisconsin from Miller. Miller notes that any zip code that had less than 200 mailings were rolled over to the “other” category for each specific state. He says the step was taken to avoid any privacy concerns.
