MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A department that operates through Milwaukee Public Schools is getting high marks for serving the community. In September, Milwaukee Recreation earned accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies and the National Recreation and Park Association.
Only 1.9 percent of park and recreation agencies in the country are accredited. Milwaukee Recreation is one of just three accredited agencies in the state of Wisconsin, and is the nation’s only school district-run agency to have received CAPRA accreditation to date.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Michael Schlesinger explored the meaning of the accomplishment.
