Minnesota Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Sexually Assaulting Infant Daughter and Videotaping It

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 22-year-old Minneapolis man will spend the next 45 years in prison for sexual assault involving his infant daughter, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

Last month, Curtis Allen Cannon was sentenced to 300 months – or 25 years – in prison. On Thursday, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office asked the district court judge to double the sentence, which he agreed to and sentenced Cannon to an additional 250 months – or nearly 21 years — in state prison after he serves his federal time.

“This is one of the most repulsive cases this office has seen,” Deputy Hennepin County Attorney David Brown said to WCCO. “If anyone deserves to spend most of his life in prison, it is Mr. Cannon and we appreciate the fact that Judge Mabley agreed with our position. We also appreciate the fine work of our law enforcement partners.”

According to the criminal complaint, Cannon sexually assaulted his 6-month-old daughter and videotaped what he was doing. He said he took the video because he felt pressured by people on a chat website to do it.

Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Cheritownsend said it’s another reason to imprison Cannon for a long time because “he is apparently unable to say no to even the slightest pressure.”
