Milwaukee's Well's St. bridge closure begins August 26

MILWAUKEE -- The Wells St. Bridge in downtown Milwaukee will be closed beginning August 26 at 1:00 p.m. The Department of Public Works says there's a problem with the bridge hydraulic systems that control how the bridge raises and lowers.

Milwaukee's Department of Public Works did not say when the bridge will be reopened. Crews will work on the bridge's structure while the bridge is placed in the open and up position.

Recommended Detours:

Eastbound: Traffic will be directed off Wells Street at Plankinton southbound to Wisconsin Avenue or northbound to Kilbourn Avenue. Motorists and pedestrians will cross the river on Wisconsin or Kilbourn and rejoin East Wells Street via North Water Street.
