Milwaukee's first wheel park project announced for Bay View 🛹

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Bay View Neighborhood Association and Milwaukee Recreation have unveiled plans for Milwaukee's first-ever wheel park, to be constructed at the Beulah Brinton playfield in Bay View.

The announcement was made in a Thursday, May 4 press release.

According to officials, the park aims to provide a safe space for skateboarders and wheel riders of all ages and skill levels. Construction will commence after the project's fundraising goals are met.

The wheel park will include diverse wheel-sport elements, and existing basketball courts will be improved.

Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic expressed pride in the project, while Lynn Greb, Director of Milwaukee Recreation, commended the Bay View Neighborhood Association for their fundraising efforts to date.

The initiative has been in development for over a decade, with neighbors currently in the final stages of raising funds.

A fundraising gap of $75,000 remains, and the Bay View Neighborhood Association will host an event on National Go Skateboarding Day, June 21, to help close the gap. For more information, visit BVNA online.
