Milwaukee's City Hall hosts annual celebration on César Chávez Day

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- César Chávez was born 96 years ago today, Friday, March 31. 

At City Hall, they held an annual celebration of the life for the man who spent a lifetime fighting for the rights of workers and immigrants across America. 

Milwaukee's party started at noon, and it was open to the public. 

Serving as host, was Milwaukee's Common Council President José Pérez. 

Nine years ago, he played a key role in getting March 31 designated as César Chávez Day, an optional holiday for Milwaukee city workers.
