MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than one hundred people gathered on Wednesday, July 9, with pink balloons and said a prayer for Saniya Davis, the 22-year-old they say meant so much to so many people.

"If you knew her, you loved her," said Jerry Williams, Davis's uncle. "There was no in-between, you fell in love with her when you met her."
Davis was 22-years-old when she was killed in a crash Saturday along North Hopkins Street.

Police say she was in the car with a 27-year-old man who was speeding when he hit a curb, guard rail and utility pole, causing Davis to be ejected from the vehicle.

Those who knew her best held a vigil in her honor at the 66th and Port Davis Play Area Wednesday.

“We always will love Saniya," said Williams. "I hope to God wherever she is at, she’s good, at peace, at rest. And we are going to find a way to keep going and lean on each other.”

Williams says he never expected something like this would happen. He says his niece was bubbly, goofy and brought happiness to others everywhere she went.

"She was a good kid, she really was," said Williams. "She didn’t do anything but bring brightness and love to people's lives."

He says it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to share their favorite memories of the woman who would light up the room and was the protector of the family.

Williams says people need to slow down and that too many people are being taken from their loved ones too soon due to reckless driving.

The Milwaukee Polce Department says charges for the man driving will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office.
