MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold its annual "Play Your Own Part" concert, showcasing young musicians from across Southeast Wisconsin. Linda Edelstein, CEO of MYSO, and student cellist Adela Ramirez joined us on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to discuss the event.
The concert takes place Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield. Over 1,000 students from more than 200 schools will perform in symphony and string orchestras, flute and wind ensembles, jazz bands and steel-pan groups.
Ramirez, a high school senior, began playing the cello in second grade and credits MYSO with nurturing her passion for music. The event aims to thank the community for its support and highlight the impact of MYSO’s programs.
Attendees can enjoy free performances and support accessible music education for young people.
