MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee has been officially selected to host the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC).
It's OFFICIAL official: The RNC is coming to Milwaukee in 2024: https://t.co/ENoivIY32Y

Earlier this week, Nashville’s Metro Council chose not to approve an agreement to host the convention, effectively paving the way for Milwaukee to take on the role.
Bringing the RNC to Wisconsin means serious money for Milwaukee but some people are wondering about the political impact. Could Milwaukee hosting the convention impact the outcome of the 2024 election in Wisconsin – a swing state?
Those CBS 58 spoke to say there’s no way of knowing, and that includes Gov. Tony Evers. But for Republican State Rep. Dan Knodl, he said he hopes it draws in more big events down the road.
“If the city of Milwaukee wants to present itself as a first-class city and a destination, you should be open minded,” Knodl said.
There was broad bipartisan support for the event in Milwaukee, a city that was selected to host the 2020 Democratic convention that had to be moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
