Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent's Contract Extended

Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Doctor Darienne Driver's contract has been extended through the 2019 school year.
Driver was named superintendent back in 2014.
MPS has been at odds with lawmakers over the "Opportunity Schools and Partnership Program." 
Critics say it is a state takeover of the city's struggling schools. 
The man chosen to lead that initiative, Demond Means, recently resigned. This left the whole process up in the air.
