MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting incident early Monday morning, March 21. A 19-year-old woman was murdered near N. 32nd St. and W. Oriole St. around 2:40 a.m. The woman has been identified as Nia Fitzpatrick.

"This is somebody I was suppose to protect and somebody took her," Nigel Williams said, Nia's sister.

Williams shared an old photo of him and his sister when they were kids.

"We were having fun, it's a moment we keep on our refrigerator, said Williams.

Milwaukee police are still working to find out who pulled the trigger.

"I'm trying to hold on because it's my baby girl, like if nobody in my kids were close, it was me and her," Nealy Williams said. Williams is her mother. "She was pretty much like me, she liked sports."

Fitzpatrick has dealt with a lot of trauma in the last year. She lost a baby in 2021.

"She was distraught from now," Nealy Williams said.

Just days ago, Nia's best friend was killed. She was prepping for the balloon release.

"She had just called on Saturday because a friend of hers was killed in an accident," Joyce Williams said.

Just like many other grieving families in Milwaukee, memories are what they’re holding on to moving forward. It's all they have left.

"All the memories we had, the past is all rushing at once. I just wish she was here," Nigeria Williams said. "I hope we find whoever did do this."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or P3 Tips App.
