MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating an armed robbery near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus Wednesday morning.
Authorities say it happened around 12:05 a.m. outside an apartment building near Hartford and Oakland.
A UWM student was approached by the suspect. Police say the suspect then pointed a shotgun at the victim and demanded property. The suspect took the victim's cell phone and left the area in a white four-door sedan driven by someone else
It was seen going south on Bartlett.
Police say the suspect is described as a black man in his twenties, wearing a dark red sweatshirt with a white undershirt.
Authorities are reminding people in the area to be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious behavior.
Meanwhile, next week is campus safety week at the university. There will be events focused on ways to stay safe.
