Milwaukee police: 2 dead in crash near 91st and Silver Spring
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A fiery crash overnight cost two young people their lives and sent one more to the hospital. Gas station surveillance footage shows the moments that led up to the crash.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, April 10, near the intersection of 91st and Silver Spring.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, a 22-year-old Milwaukee woman was driving east on W. Silver Spring Dr. when she collided with another vehicle. The woman and her passenger in the first vehicle, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, a 33-year-old Milwaukee man, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Vallery Fru, a clerk at the Clark station on 91st and Silver Spring, said accidents at that intersection are a normal occurrence. He said he's witnessed at least three every one to two months.
"It’s a very busy intersection, a lot of accidents be happening," said Fru.
According to Milwaukee police, there has been eight crashes near 91st and Silver Spring so far this year. In 2022, Milwaukee police reported over 20 crashes.
Milwaukee police haven't said if the driver was trying to beat a red light or if they were under the influence.
