Milwaukee police identify 17-year-old shot by officers

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department identified the man shot by their officers at the Milwaukee County Transit Center as 17-year-old Shawn Rieves of Milwaukee. Police say Rieves was armed, and pointed his handgun at three officers. Our John Cuoco discovers details about Rieves life.


Milwaukee police responded to an attempted carjacking and shots fired near the Milwaukee County Transit Center on November 11th. The 56-year-old victim told police Rieves attempted to enter his vehicle, and when he drove away Rieves shot at him.


The victim drove around the corner, and called 911. He also circled the block to see if he could locate Rieves. Police got a description from the 56-year-old man, and began searching area for Rieves.


Three Milwaukee police officers encountered Rieves in the Milwaukee County Transit Center. We're told Rieves was armed, and pointed his gun at officers. He was shot and killed by officers.


Our John Cuoco found that Rieves was a local rapper that went by the name Money Man. An internet search revealed he's part of a group called 1st Block Entertainment. Rieves posted several videos on his Twitter account.


Rieve's final tweet posted at 3:52 a.m. read, \"Must wake up\".


On Facebook, someone claiming to be Rieves sister posted a report card showing Rieves had a 3.66 GPA.


A criminal backgroun check turned up nothing, but requests made for juvenille records has yet to be responded to. 


All three officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation. This is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
