Milwaukee Police Department's outreach to the homeless

MILWAUKEE-CBS 58 went for a ride along Wednesday night with Officer Chad Stiles who is an outreach officer to the homeless.

His goal is to reach out to the homeless before something really bad happens.

For 48 hours straight, he and other law enforcement will join volunteers to conduct a \"Point in Time\" survey.

It's a chance to get an accurate count of the homeless and why they can't get off the streets.

Some of the images captured by Milwaukee Police overnight show deplorable and dangerous living conditions.

Officer Stiles urged many he encountered to take up offers from local shelters for medical attention and basic supplies.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, domestic abuse victims make up the largest portion of Wisconsin's homeless.

2/3's of homeless are families.
