Milwaukee police announce support for Governor Evers funding of Office of Violence Prevention

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) announced Thursday, Oct. 14, that the department supports Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers' efforts to dedicate $8 million towards Milwaukee's Office of Violence.

The announcement comes after a decision Wednesday, Oct. 13, from Governor Evers that directed a $45 million statewide investment in violence prevention and supporting crime victims.

Reportedly, $8 million of those investment funds would go toward the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Violence Prevention.

A statement from Milwaukee police Thursday read that "MPD is grateful for our ongoing and strong partnership with OVP (Office of Violence Prevention)."
