Milwaukee Panthers Fall to Northern Kentucky in Horizon League Championship Game
UWM was one game away from going to the big dance but unfortunately, the Panthers fell to Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League Championship Game.
Many didn't think the Panthers would even make it this far. It was a conference tournament to remember but a night to forget for the Panthers. Milwaukee almost did it. They were one or two plays away.
From capping off an unbelievable run to the NCAA tournament. At 12 and 23 they would've had the worst record of any school to ever make the big dance. But with time winding down trailing by a few the panthers couldn't get the 5-0 or 6-0 run it would've taken to make history. Instead, the panthers walk off the court for the final time as a team. Head coach LaVall Jordan just wants to make sure they walk off with their heads held high.
"Extremely proud of this group. Just for believing. And I think it was an inspiration to I don't know how many people. I know people in the Milwaukee community, in our university and in our city, have so much respect for our young men, student athletes that are wearing the jersey and representing Milwaukee with so much pride," Jordan said.
The panthers are a young team and they'll try to take this heartbreak as a learning experience.
