MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Celebrate Milwaukee's wonderful museums with a variety of special events and behind-the-scenes tours.
The second annual Museum Week starts Saturday, Jan. 18, and on Friday Milwaukee leaders, including Mayor Barrett, gathered at the Grohmann Museum to formally kick off the event.
Milwaukee Museum Week is sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. It's meant to increase community members' exposure to the city's various museums.
"Whenever we go to a museum, we learn something new," said Janel Hines of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. "We see something new, we see something from a different perspective. But it's also a time for us to get out as a community and share. So invite your family, invite your friends."
Milwaukee Museum Week also received a gem grant at the event in the form of an $18,000 check.
You can find a full list of participating museums and events here.
