Milwaukee mother sentenced to time served in 2023 child neglect case

CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee woman convicted in the 2023 death of her 4-year-old son was sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 12 to time served.
Court records show Tiara Edwards received an 82-day sentence in the Community Reintegration Center, with credit for 82 days already served. Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Borowski also ordered her to pay mandatory costs, fees and surcharges.
The case stemmed from a Feb. 2023 incident in which police said Edwards’ son, Jamero, accessed her loaded gun and was shot. Edwards pleaded guilty to neglecting a child resulting in death.
She is prohibited from possessing a firearm or voting and was advised of her right to seek post-conviction relief, according to court records.
