MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An event happening April 27 is making sure every baby has the best possible start in life.
On Saturday, over 2,000 families and supporters will be gathering for the Milwaukee March for Babies at the Pettit Center.
According to March of Dimes, 1 in 8 babies in Milwaukee is born prematurely. The national average is 1 in 10. The March for Babies helps raise awareness about prematurity and funds to give all babies and moms the chance at a healthy start.
The March for Babies begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27 with the 2-mile walk stepping off at 10:00 a.m. inside the Pettit Center. People can still register to walk and if you can’t attend, donations can be made at www.marchforbabies.org/event/milwaukee
The money raised by the event goes toward NICU Family Support at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Stork's Nest and Baby Close, research and program grants, and group prenatal care programs.
