Milwaukee man dies while in protective custody

A 53-year-old Milwaukee man died while receiving medical treatment shortly after Milwaukee Police officers took the man into protective custody when called to a disturbance in a home on Milwaukee's north side. 

Officers had been called to the disturbance in the 2800 block of N.70th Street at about 8:30 p.m. on October 7. Shortly after taking the man into protective custody the officers recognized he was in medical distress and immediately summoned medical attention. The Milwaukee Fire Department quickly arrived but the man died while undergoing treatment at the scene. 

Consistent with State law, an outside agency has been contacted and will investigate the death.
