Milwaukee man charged after allegedly assaulting MPS teacher in front of students

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is charged with battery after allegedly assaulting a Milwaukee Public Schools special education teacher in front of her students. 

Eddie Caldwell, 53, is charged with battery to a school district officer and disorderly conduct following the incident that occurred Tuesday morning, Oct. 29. 

A criminal complaint says officers responded to Bruce Elementary School after witnesses reported a "disgruntled parent" had assaulted a teacher in her classroom.

The complaint says witnesses told officers Caldwell pushed the teacher against a wall and struck her multiple times in the head. It says one person tried to intervene, and when another person entered the classroom, Caldwell threatened to beat her as well.

Investigators spoke with the victim, who stated that Caldwell threatened to "beat her [expletive]" before pushing and striking her. The victim said Caldwell assaulted her in front of her entire classroom, consisting of five adults and 29 students.
