Milwaukee LGBT Community leader reacts to Supreme Court decision

MILWAUKEE -- The U.S. Supreme Court will not review the seven petitions from state bans on same-sex marriage.  The Milwaukee LGBT Community believes it's a big step forward.

However, some wish the U.S. Supreme Court would have taken one of the cases.  Same-sex supporters want a universal recognition across the United States.

\"Same-sex couples in Wisconsin can get married,\" Milwaukee LGBT Community Center Executive Director Karen Gotzler said.   \"That is a very, very exciting thing for lesbian and gay couples in our state.  What the Supreme Court didn't do is create a national recognition for same-sex marriage. That means other states may still have battles ahead of them for same-sex couples.\"

The ACLU will outline what's next in the marriage fight at a press conference Monday. Stay tuned to CBS 58 for more details.
