Milwaukee leaders seek public input on plans for federal funding to combat urban blight

MILWAUKEE -- There are major plans underway to ease the ongoing fallout from the housing crisis in Milwaukee and city leaders are asking residents to voice their opinions on how it should be done.

More than $20 million dollars of federal funds could be available next year to address urban blight and provide housing for residents, issues labeled by some city leaders as the biggest problem facing Milwaukee. 

The money is part of the Community Development Block Grant program, and the city is seeking the public's help in creating a spending plan. 

Priorities include neighborhood planning, employment services, and youth services. 

The first public input session is Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goodwill on North 91st Street in Milwaukee.
