Milwaukee Judges are Forgiving Warrants on Wednesday

A very special deal is in the works for people in Milwaukee with outstanding warrant for minor offenses. Three judges have agreed to throw them out no questions asked.

The judges said it's an effort to help people get on the right track.

People who qualify can show up in court starting Wednesday to get their warrant taken care of.

The city's three municipal court judges, Derek Mosley, Valarie Hill and Phillip Chavez, announced the offer in a Facebook video.

Anyone in the county with a municipal court warrant, driver's license suspension or car registration suspension can have those warrants and suspensions lifted, without making an initial payment.

The judges said they want people who are afraid to come forward because of outstanding warrants to begin working with the system.

Some area lawyers think the offer is a great idea.

This pilot program will take place each of the next three Wednesdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and from 1:30-5:30 p.m.

People will still be responsible for any fines, and building and zoning code violations will be heard on a case by case basis.
