MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- AT&T is working with cities across the country to help provide free internet access to restricted communities.
Today, Aug. 27, Milwaukee became the newest city to join the initiative - helping minimize the 'digital divide.'
This is the first of its kind in Wisconsin and offers free access to digital resources such as high-speed internet and Dell computers.
Along with the free technology the center also symbolizes a sign of progress towards economic and educational equality.
"Today represents a new chapter of expansion and impact," said CEO of Greater Urban Milwaukee Dr. Eve Hall. "We believe in digital access, we believe in addressing the digital divide."
AT&T plans to open at least 100 connected learning centers across the country by 2027.
