Ceremonial groundbreaking held for future Milwaukee Public Museum
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Thanksgiving celebration wouldn't be complete without a delicious Thanksgiving meal.
Thursday, Nov. 18, the Milwaukee Jewish Community Center (JCC), in partnership with the Hunger Task Force and Trader Joe's, handed out more than 150 Thanksgiving meals to local residents.
Many city and community officials were on hand to kick off this very important distribution event.
"What we're trying to do here is figure out one block at a time, how we can make a difference in this part of town, and we're here every single Thursday really making a difference and having our community, our partners -- which is all the neighbors who live here -- having an opportunity to come and get to make their choices," said JCC president and CEO Mark Shapiro.
Each meal includes a whole Thanksgiving turkey, holiday pie, cranberry sauce, turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy mix, in addition to fresh onions, sweet potatoes and green beans.
