MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of Milwaukee's most prominent historic buildings has been transformed into something new.
The Milwaukee Fortress in the Brewers Hill neighborhood has been turned into a mix of apartments, commercial space, and modern amenities.
There was a grand tour on Thursday which included live music, food, and guided tours.
"And I think a lot of people drove past it and in many ways it was a very forbidding building and you can see that by its name -- the fortress, but it's really opened up and it's really opened up the community," said Mayor Tom Barrett.
The historic building was originally built in 1892.
