Milwaukee firefighters suspended over vandalism of fire house

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire Department concluded its internal investigation into an incident where several firefighters vandalized their own fire house during the month of September in 2013.

The department says there is a reasonable belief that any member of Engine 32 on duty on the day it was vandalized should have known about the vandalism and reported it to command.

Two members of the fire department who failed to properly prevent or report the vandalism are being demoted, and are on unpaid suspension for 30 days. These two members will also participate in remedial training.

According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, most of the firefighters who took part in the vandalism is no longer with the department. The remaining firefighters who took part in the vandalism will also be suspended for 30 days without pay, and ordered to participate in remedial training.
