MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Retiring MFD Chief Mark Rohlfing was given a heartfelt send-off Friday, Oct. 30.
A ceremony with fellow firefighters and city leaders was held at the Milwaukee Fire Department.
Rohlfing joined the department after 27 previous years of service as a firefighter.
He was the 17th chief named to lead the department back in 2010.
"When people ask, you know, I'll say yes, I was a firefighter for 37 years, and I'll tell them I was a Milwaukee firefighter, thank you," Rohlfing said.
The department says a few projects that came about during his time as chief include the reestablishment of the Fire Cadet Program and the engagement of shared services.
He also concentrated on projects focusing on firefighter health and wellness, including mental health.
