Milwaukee father charged after 5-week-old baby overdoses on opioids

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 5-week-old baby is lucky to be alive.

Police say the little girl overdosed on opioids on May 6 in a home near 19th and Rogers.

Her father is now facing charges.

Police say 25-year-old Versean Anderson washed drug syringes in a water jug.

That jug was later used to fill the baby's bottle.

When officers searched the home, they also located a used syringe, needles in a box under the kitchen table and bathroom sink, two burnt and bent metal spoons covered in residue, and a plastic bag containing a similar residue.

The girl was rushed to the hospital and needed two doses of Narcan to be revived.

Anderson will appear in court next month.
