MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works has concluded its snow emergency Thursday, Jan. 28.

Here's a breakdown of what that means for residents:

Posted street signs take precedence. Please read the street signs BEFORE YOU PARK. If your block is designated for two-sided overnight parking, drivers may resume parking on both sides of the street tonight, Jan. 28.

Residents must still follow winter parking rules that include:

  • There is no parking allowed on arterials (main streets) from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Posted regulations stating “No Parking Dec. 1 to March 1.”

DPW officials want to remind drivers that a valid overnight parking permit is required for any vehicle to park overnight on a City street. For information on parking permits, regulations and downloading the MKE Park app, CLICK HERE

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A snow emergency in the city of Milwaukee will be in effect for a second night Wednesday, Jan. 27.

There is no parking allowed on arterials (main streets) from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and alternate side parking will be required on side streets from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Department of Public Works crews say it's needed to help clear snow off city streets.

They say Tuesday night's snow emergency allowed crews to go curb to curb. More than 100 pieces of equipment were on the roads, but scaled down on main roads after rush hour to focus on other areas.

Crews say there's always a possibility a section was missed or there were cars parked there earlier.

If you see a street that looks like it hasn't been addressed, you can report it at 414-286-CITY (2489).

Garbage and recycling also resumes Jan. 27.
