Milwaukee County Zoo announces birth of female Bactrian camel

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Zoo is announcing the birth of a female Bactrian camel.

The calf was born May 20 to mother, A.J., and father, Stan. The zoo says the pair have three other sons who have since transferred to other zoological organizations. A.J. is like a "helicopter mom," according to zookeepers, with a very "sweet and friendly" temperament.

The new calf weighs roughly 88 pounds.

If she continues to progress as she should, the zoo says visitors can find her in the outdoor camel habitat from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. daily.
