Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas submits nomination papers for mayoral run

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas will officially be on the ballot during the upcoming special election for Milwaukee mayor.

Lucas submitted nomination papers for his official run for Milwaukee Mayor on Tuesday, Jan 11.

The papers included 3,000 signatures of Milwaukee residents, the maximum allowable for a candidate.

Sheriff Lucas, and candidate for mayor of Milwaukee, issued the following statement regarding submitting his nomination papers to have his name placed on the ballot this spring.

“I am proud of the strength and organization of our campaign as we were able to submit 3,000 signatures of Milwaukee residents - the maximum allowable for any candidate - despite the short timetable and the ongoing pandemic. This shows that we have the infrastructure and the will to win this election. With this important step behind us, our attention now shifts to the primary election on Tuesday, February 15. I look forward to earning the trust and support of voters in the weeks to come. Together, we will make Milwaukee a city on the rise.”
