MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide on the city's south side.

According to police, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and killed near S. 6th St. and W. Rogers St. around 8:40 p.m., Monday.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Mathayus Burton.

CBS 58 spoke with a family member who didn't want to be identified. She said something about Burton's death just isn't adding up.

Loved ones spent Tuesday morning walking up and down 6th Street looking for answers.

"It's tragic. I don't wish this on nobody," said one family member.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting stem from an argument.

"He wasn't that type of person to be involved in drama, that's why it hurts," the family member said.

Burton had three children and one on the way. Family is now questioning how someone like Burton could end up dead.

"He was definitely one of the people...if he sees something going wrong or somebody's hurt, he would come immediately and diffuse the situation and help anyone in dire need," Burton's family member said.

Milwaukee police continue to seek unknown suspects.
