MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A group of Milwaukee County employees prepared snacks for the kids at the Ronald McDonald House on Friday, May 24.
One of the volunteers stood out. County Executive David Crowley joined. It is part of the county's new "Into the Streets" program, which encourages county workers to step up and help hometown organizations.
"It's amazing to see our community leaders come in and be a part of our mission. It means a lot to us and it really, it never ceases to amaze me how many want to come here and show their support for our mission," said Laurie Bertrand with the Ronald McDonald House.
"It's extremely important for people to give back in their communities, so whether you're giving back in your local community or coming down to the Ronald McDonald House, please get involved in some capacity," said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
The mission of the Ronald McDonald house in Wauwatosa is to keep families together while their kids are being treated at nearby hospitals. The meal program is an important part of that mission.
