Milwaukee Common Council approves seventh FPC member, Amanda Avalos

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Milwaukee's Common Council has voted to confirm the nomination of Amanda Avalos to the Fire and Police Commission.

The confirmation could bring the city one step closer to a decision by the commission on who will become the next permanent police chief, with Avalos contributing the seventh, tie-breaking vote.

Two votes in December finished in 3-3 ties between the two finalists for the job, however the chief search is now on hold following a judge's ruling that reinstated former police chief Alfonso Morales.
