MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Bucks games at Fiserv Forum for the 2020-21 season will be held without fans due to the COVID-19, at least during the beginning of the season..

The Bucks said Monday, Nov 23, the health and safety of fans, players, coaches, and team and arena staff are the organization’s top priorities.

The team is currently working on a plan to have fans in the arena at some point this season.

“When we are able to do that it’s going to be because the league has approved out plan and the city has approved out plan,” Bucks Senior Vice President of ticket sales Jamie Morningstar said.

Morningstar said the Bucks will reach out to season ticket holders next week. The team plans to reserve a quarter of all available seats for season ticket holders.

“We’re going off of the assumption that when we can bring fans back we probably won’t be able to bring it at a full manifest," Morningstar said. "We won’t be able to have everyone in the building.”

The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce said the news means hundreds of workers are out of the job that much longer.

“From greeting people, to hospitality workers, the ticket takers, the concession people, the security people...those folks are put in limbo,” MMAC Senior VP Steve Baas said.

Visit Milwaukee said any period of time without fans is a huge blow to already struggling nearby businesses.

“It’s devastating for the deer district, for all of our restaurants and bars," Visit Milwaukee CEO Peggy Williams-Smith said.

The Bucks are still working on their logistical plans for fans, if they receive the go ahead.

“There’s obviously mask guidelines," Morningstar said. "Six foot social distance. There’s different preparations for how food and beverage may look, and how that would translate into an experience for a guest in the building.”

Visit milwaukee said if you want to support the area, you can always buy bucks gear online. All the Deer District businesses that are open provide carry out.
