I hope you got out and enjoyed the warm weather we had on Saturday! Everyone was able to warm into the 70s, making it the warmest day we've had since April 7th.

Another mild day is on tap for today, but highs will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday in the upper 60s to low 70s. Take advantage of it because temps won't get anywhere near this warm over the next week and a half.

A strong, backdoor cold front will race down Lake Michigan between 5-8 p.m. today, causing temps to quickly drop from the 60s into the 40s in a 1-2 hour span. It'll be a shock to the system after a mild afternoon.

Cooler than normal temperatures will then settle in for the rest of the week, with highs potentially not making it out of the 40s lakeside Monday and Tuesday thanks to an easterly breeze.

Unfortunately the coldest air of the month won't arrive until the end of the week and next weekend as a cold air mass drops in from Canada. The Climate Prediction Center's temperature outlook shows an 80 to 90% chance for below normal temps through the middle of May.

We're expecting several nights in the 30s this week, especially away from Lake Michigan, which could lead to some light frost. Download the CBS 58 Ready Weather App to see when you may need to cover your plants or bring them inside to protect them from frost this week.
