MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On the last day of Fire Prevention Week, the Milwaukee Fire Department is celebrating the winners of its poster-to-billboard contest on Friday, Oct. 13.
Students from Milwaukee area schools participated in a special art contest. Today, Fire Chief Aaron Lipski made a stop at the Academy of Accelerated Learning to meet with two of the top contest winners and deliver their whole class pizza!
The contest is a chance for students to learn about fire safety and have some fun creating art.
"It's good for the kids because they get pizza. Am I right?" Chief Lipski said, asking the students. They agreed.
"It's good for the kids because kids are actually listening to what we're saying nowadays. We have seen the ability for kids to learn the right way to do things, transfer through to when they become adults," said Lipski.
The challenge for the contest was to create a poster with artwork supporting the message of fire safety. This year's theme was "cooking safety starts with you."
