MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some local high school students are helping District 5 Police Officers prepared a Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of people who they never met, but want to help.
They already are studying the culinary arts at Messmer High School and got some valuable experience from the professions at Brass Alley Kitchen Crew on Old World Third Street.
At the hear of these collective efforts is knowing that the meals they're preparing will be served to families from Milwaukee's Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods.
"I love it," said Jeremy Prust of Brass Alley. "Words can't describe how pleased I am to have this opportunity."
Wild Planet Hospitality Group is donating 400 meals for the Milwaukee Police Department's annual Thanksgiving dinner event.
For three years now, District 5 officers have reached out to the family they serve and protect but who might be in need of a little boost this Thanksgiving.
The dinner will be served Sunday, November 19 at Messmer Saint Mary located at 3027 N. Fratney. There are two seatings, one from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and another from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The dinner is free, however organizers ask that those looking to attend call ahead giving their name, number of people coming with them, and the time they plan to attend. The number to call is 414-264-5440 x1200.
