Man arrested hours after Mequon police respond to domestic shots fired incident near River Club

MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Mequon police say a 32-year-old man is in custody following a domestic incident at a parking lot near the River Club on Fri. Dec. 26.

Police say they responded to the area along N. Villa du Parc Drive at around 8:40 p.m., for a report of a disturbance in a parking lot. 

It was reported by several callers that a man and woman were involved in an altercation around a vehicle, and one witness reported possibly hearing two gunshots. 

Prior to officers' arrival, the vehicle fled the scene, while striking and damaging property in the area.

Officers recovered one spent shell casing at the scene.

Police say the investigation involved a 32-year-old man from Milwaukee and a 39-year-old woman from Milwaukee that know each other. 

Hours later, at around 12:22 a.m., officers located the male suspect driving the vehicle in Mequon. Officers arrested him and are forwarding the following charges to the Ozaukee County District Attorney's Office: operating while under the influence (third offense), disorderly conduct, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, operating after revocation (state offense), and failure to install ignition interlock device.

Officials say they were able to locate the woman, who confirmed she is safe at a relative's home and not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.
