MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friendship Circle’s mental health initiative, UMatter, is organizing 41 SafeTALK workshops aimed at suicide prevention training for Milwaukee-area residents.
The program, led by Levi Stein, president of Friendship Circle, is being held in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Stein joined us Monday, May 26, and said the workshops are being held in honor of Alderman Jonathan Brostoff.
Each four-hour session trains attendees to identify and assist individuals at risk of suicide. Stein’s goal is to train 1,000 people by Wednesday, Sept. 10, marking World Suicide Prevention Day.
Businesses and organizations may register to host a free workshop. UMatter also facilitates teen and mom support groups and offers crisis prevention programs.
