Menomonee Falls police arrest student with handgun

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Menomonee Falls police arrested a 19-year-old student who was attending Quest Alternative, an alternative high school program, for possession of  a handgun on Tuesday, May 18.

Police say Tuesday afternoon officials were notified by the Menomonee Falls School District that a student may be in possession of a handgun.

Officers responded to the location and quickly located a handgun and arrested the male student.

"As a reminder we encourage parents to discuss with their children the importance of reporting any information of weapons in the schools to the police and school officials so immediate actions can be put in place for the safety of all involved," the Village of Menomonee Falls Police Department said in a statement.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.
